JOURNALING THROUGH GRIEF

Monday, April 19, 2010 : 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Rd. E., Hamilton, ON  905-574-0405

Journaling has long been considered a deeply transformative and meditative tool. The process of writing in a journal allows an individual to reflect on the key areas they are working on.

In this case, the primary focus is on healing your grief and life disappointments. For many of you, this process will allow your emotions to ripple to the surface rather than just suppress them. It is a time for you to reflect and look inward at the workings of your emotional heart and acknowledge the vast collection of thoughts in your mind.

Think of journal writing as a diary that reflects your growth and evolution through the pain. As the seasons change from spring, summer, autumn, winter, and back to spring; similarly your grief journal will reflect the same changes. Wherever you are in your personal healing road, you can heal and find closure to the past and your pain.

In your journal, you will note perceptions of your situation, the challenges you face, expectations, and most importantly; your success experienced from the outside in.

In journaling there are no right or wrong answers. You do not need to write what you think other people want to hear. You just write, and your entries can be long or short, or whatever feels right for you.
